I get really excited when I see someone do something on a website that I’ve never thought of doing before. I saw this the other day and the nerd in me got excited.
What did I see? Well, I randomly typed in DailyTravelPhotos.com, clicked on the About page, and saw this:
It’s a maintenance log (or change log). Call me a nerd, but I really like this. I think it’s a great thing to have on a site. It shows people that you are (or are not, if you never update it) paying attention to the site itself and trying to make the experience better for your readers/viewers. It’s fun to see how things change over time.
I just added a change log/maintenance log to The Backlight’s About page. As you’re reading this, I’m probably en route from San Miguel de Allende to Cancun via Mexico City. When I get settled in in Cancun, I’ll change the little blurb in my bio that says that I’m currently in San Miguel, and I’ll add this to the maintenance log: “December 4, 2012: Changed current location from San Miguel de Allende to Cancun.”
So what do you think? Interesting? Lame? Valuable? Worthless? Is it something you’re going to add to your blog?
